I got in my first car accident today?

I'm 16, just got my license 3 days ago. The accident was completely not my fault. Today I was driving home ALONE keep in mind and I was sitting still in the turning lane waiting to make a left turn. The speed limit was 35, this lady was going every bit of 60 I guess. She tried to cut me off according to a few witnesses but ended up hitting the right corner of my vehicle. I watched in what felt like slow motion as her car flew across the road and flip 2 or 3 times. Traffic stopped and people got out to help, next thing I know sirens are going off and emergency vehicles are racing towards the scene. A few people came up to me and tried to calm me down saying it wasn't my fault and everyone was okay. The police were all very nice to me and told me to just not let this scare me and continue driving but I just feel so horrible, it was honestly the scariest moments of my life. I am so terrified to drive now. I'm glad that I am okay but this was the first real accident I've ever been in and it scared me so bad.

Problem:
The driver of a car slams on the brakes when he sees a tree blocking the road. The car slows uniformly with an acceleration of -5.6 (m/s^2) for 4.2 s, making straight skid marks 62.4 m long, all the way to the tree. With what speed does the car then strike the tree?

Here's what I have so far:
Ax = -5.6 m/s^2
Xi = 0
Xf = 62.4 m
t = 4.2 s
Vxf (final velocity) = ?
Vxi (initial velocity = ?

The answer is 3.1 m/s, but I'm not exactly sure how to go about doing this. Can someone explain to me how to do this in general? I don't want the equations worked out. I just need to know how to go about solving this problem.
The kinematic equations I have all have Vxf and Vxi. I don't know how to get instantaneous velocity at a specific time with these formulas.

--Chapter One.
Lightning flashes. Instead of frightening me, it calms me.
I lie there in the darkness of my room, listening to the raging thunderstorm outside, watching its malevolent beauty from inside the safety of my small room. I hear a tree branch break down the road.
Lightning flashed again. I see something in the shadows shift movement. Probably just a rat or something, I tell myself, considering the old houses' condition. It may have been new to me, mom, and Connor; but it was defenitely old. I sigh in disgust.
Why did mom make us move here? Connor and I were finally doing good for once in our lives. We'd had a good group of friends, mom even approved of them. We were staying out of trouble and we were making the good grades mom wanted us to. We even began participating in extra-ciricular activites, just like she wanted.
And then she makes us move here, to this drab little town. Fallen Valley. What kind of vibe would that name give off to you if your mom came home from work one day, telling you to pack what little possesions you had, and tell you you're moving there. Not a very good one, let me tell you.
We'd been moving all my life. Never staying in one place for too long. It wasn't because of Moms job, or that we were kicked out of town, or chased out of town by an angry mob like on those cheesy Saturday morning cartoons, but that we were running. Running from our past, our fears. Or at least that's what I liked to believe.
Mom would never tell me why we moved so much. So I decided to make it exciting in my own mind. Back in Broken Arrow, no one wanted to know why we moved there, where my father was, why we he wasn't with us. They weren't nosey people; They minded their own buisness.
And that's why I'd liked it there so much. I could tell mom and Connor liked it there, too. Not too many people, but not so little that it ever got loney. And there was always something to do, people to spend time with. It never got boring there.
So that's why it was such bewilderment to me whereas why we moved onced again. Broken Arrow was the kind of place where bad things just didn't happen. It kept all the bad stuff away. It was like this little sanctum. So if we were running from fear and memories and our horrible past, Broken Arrow would have been able to protect us.
My four years living there, I liked to believe that it was protected by this little orb of magic, like a forcefield. Just keeping all the horrid things of the world out.
After being there so long, moving here, to Fallen Valley, gave me a rude awakening. I could tell this place was far from a sanctum.
I knew I would hate it here. Ever since I was little, I just had a way of knowing things. They were never wrong. I knew when it would rain, when it would snow. I was able to tell when nature was about to give a gift to the world. Like if a baby was on its way, I would know. If the harvest was ready, I would know. If flowers were blooming, I would know.
I was also very gifted academically. Before first grade I could solve long mathematical equations in my head and get them right. I knew of the sciences and at age three had quite the vast vocabulary. I was also well knowledgable of History. I had many trophies and ribbons, diplomas and plaques, proving my smarts.
Nobody had ever taught me these things. I just.. knew them. And obviously noone could teach me the uncanny abilities I had of nature and such.
The only people that knew of my gifts were Connor, and my mother. Mom didn't want me telling anybody. She feared they might disown me, hurting me. Even though this didn't unsettle me as it did her, I followed her word and kept this part about me secret.
Keeping secrets.. I'd done it all my life. It took time for people to earn my trust. I've been hurt before and don't exactly want it happening again. So I just keep things to myself; not telling anybody anything about me besides the basics, acting like everything in my life is okay. And so far.. it's worked.
Not even my friends back in Broken Arrow knew everything. And I'd known them for four years. They had my trust. But I was still scared to tell them about me. The truth behind why we moved so much. The truth of my father. The truth of my past. You see, I know these things, but I'm not going to be able to tell you. Not until you've earned my trust..
Chapter Two.
I glared at my screaming alarm clock. 6:00 AM. Waking up was always hard for me. I hated mornings. Today was mine and Connors first day at Fallen Valley High. Sighing, I got out of bed, deciding it was best to get up and begin getting ready.
When I walked into the bathroom, Connor was already there, brushing his caramel brown hair. Connor and I looked alot alike. Same straight caramel brown hair, same large emerald green eyes, and same tall, slight frame. We inherited our looks from our mother. We looked nothing like dad. I only knew this because of pictures.
We'd never known our father. Mom used to tell us about him, sometimes. Then we stopped asking because we could tell it hurt her. And besides that, we didn't want to know our father. From what mom told us, he was a bad man. And whoever was stupid enough to hurt our mom by just leaving her (and us) wasn't worth our knowledge, as far as we were concerned.
Connor was only a year younger than me. Fifteen. I sighed.
No fifteen year old boy should have to go through what he's been through. No one in general should have to, as a matter of fact. But as mom always told us, "Be proud of your past! It's what makes you, you."
I pushed all these thoughts to the back of my mind. For the moment, I had to focus on preparing for school. After Connor walked out, I began brushing my hair and then my teeth. I walked to my room and stripped myself of my bedraggled pajamas, pulling on my skinny jeans, converse, some random band tee shirt I found in my closet, and my favorite hoodie.
At least I didn't loose everything in moving here.. I thought to myself, grabbing my bag. And now.. High school, I sigh, walking out the door with Connor to catch the bus.

So I really reaaallllyyyy like this girl. We became fast friends, have a ton in common, get along great etc...
We are both in college and we were on campus the first day and she was SO stressed out with how this semester will go for her, she just didnt know what to do and was just kinda telling me all this stuff about how how stressed she is etc...
Well she is very religious (I am a Christian myself as well) and so later that night, I kinda pieced together some Bible quotes about stress and dealing with it and kinda tweaked it and changed some words to make it more directly about her. And I just told her about how I hope it helps her or whatever, and sent it to her on a private message on facebook.
I feel like I want to be nice and sweet but if I am "too sweet and nice" then she'll only look at me as a "friend" or "brother." She texted me after she got it saying "thanks for making me smile :)" and i texted back "it's my favorite thing to do" ...making her smile, that is.

If I keep this up, am i headed down the friend-zone road, or the boyfriend road? I truly like this girl.

I need help with my property boundary lines dispute!?

help! I have just moved into New jersey and into a nice house with a nice big backyard. However, we met the neighbor today towards the back of the lot, who told us that a 'paper' road runs through our back yard and that we can have 20 ft into it and he can extend his boundary 20 ft into it - towards our house. He did the measurements and moved his boundary - TODAY - so that over half of what we thought was out backyard has now gone!! Is this legal? The previous owners of the house used the space as their backyard for 24 years without problem. Now the new owners (us) lose it in a day... I feel as if we have just lost a major piece of land just by talking to my neighbor. Please advise - we are feeling devastated.

How should we react/respond to this kindness?

About a year ago, our family was driving down the road when we saw an acquaintance family with 6 or 7 kids on the side of the road because their Suburban had blown a tire. We pulled over, and my husband changed their tire. (he used to be a mechanic...so he is quite fast) They were very thankful...and we were happy to stop...and we weren't inconvenienced as it only took about 15 minutes. Friday night, after we put the kids in the bed, my mom came over so my husband and I could go on a dinner date. At the restaurant we happened to see the family that my husband changed the tire for. (this was the first time seeing them since) Well, we said hello, and basically moved on to our table to eat. Once we were finished, and it was time to pay...the waiter said it had been taken care of by this other family. We were blown away by this as our dinner was a bit pricey...but they had already paid...and were gone. We ironically, will see them this upcoming weekend. Do y'all think it would be silly to make them cookies along with a thank you card? Or do y'all think we should just tell them thanks? Suggestions?

why is he acting like this?

ok….. so there is this boy he is 21 and I'm 19 and I really like him, and he knows that. we started talking about 6 months ago in march and we texted non stop all the time we flirted ALOT. Were juss frnds but he asked me to be his girlfrnd about 3 months ago but I had other stuff to sort out so I kinda rejected him, even tho werr frnds he use to call me sweety and thinks our frndship is a “friendship or whatever” lol. he Thinks I'm cute, girly, pretty and beautiful. We would always text then suddenly he stopped replying to my text(this was the begging week of july), I mean he even flirted with me 3 days before we stopped talkin. I asked him “r you like mad at me or sumthin” he replies “no not at all, why you ask that?” I say “cuz it seems like you don’t wanna talk to me anymore” he says “ive been bz these days” so I stopped texting him for a day and texted him again trynna play it cool saying “wazup” he never replied then, at night I was playing it cool again sayin “hey…=)” and still no reply then I say again “how come you never text me back” he says “sorry, I don’t feel like text these days, goodnight” (this was around july 4th or so)


my frnds said maybe I was hurtin him so I asked him out but he said this:
(my name) you are a good girl, very funny and girly, but I'm not the right guy for you, there's a lot of things you don't know about me, I have been dating girlsand doing sh**, I'm not ready for a serious relationship right now, neither do I want one. (that was 2 months ago, he said stuff to me after I asked him out like “as a frnd I'm tellin you this blah blah blah…) so I guess we were still frnds.

Haven’t reely talked to him since but its weird because I saw him yesterday it was on the road and he was driving behind me and then he suddenly pulls up next to me and honks his horn to get me to notice him, I mean he gets so excited when he sees me, yet he doesn’t like me? Then at college I passed him in the hallway he looks at me and says “hey sup!” I reply “hey. Not much. Did you honk at me this morning?” he says “ya that was my car” but when he talks to me it sounds like he doesn’t want the conversation to keep going. So I just end the conversation


today I saw him and his face like lit up he was like "heeey!" and we talked for a bit. he seemed interested I guess he was laughin at my jokes and stuff. it seems he likes me but I don't know.

i don't text him AT ALL anymore its been 2 months since my last text to him. we don't fb chat or IM or anything anymore. I just bump into him every now and then.

if he doenst like me then why does he get happy/excited to see me???

i had two dreams that were very similar. they were both about my mom doing something while i was driving, getting in my way.
i'm 18 by the way, female. and i drive a manual car.
so i was at a railroad crossing and the road leading up to it declined. and if you know anything about manual cars, you know that if you're at a decline in neutral, and you let go of the beaks, the car rolls down/forward. so my mom was in the front seat, and she forced my leg off my break (i was flipping out the whole time) and the car rolled down and hit the car in front of us. then i woke up.
in the second dream, i was just driving on a straight road and i was accelerating to get to a normal speed. my mom forced my hand away from the gear shift and even though i was struggling and shouting she was just taking it as a joke, and wouldn't let me shift gears, and eventually the car started slowing down to a stop in the middle of the road.
these dreams were no more than a week apart. why did i have them? seems odd to me.
i don't have any problems with my mom while driving, usually. she's not even a back-seat driver.

Anyone use a wireless perimeter fence or wired underground fence to keep their stubborn dog in?

If so, what type is it, would you recommend it for stubborn dogs with ALOT of fur and high pain tolerances (135lb Malamute and 75lb Malamute) ?

My 2 Malamutes were playing so I dropped their leashes this morning in our backyard---bam! they take off down the driveway and up the middle of the road! There I go, chasing them in my boxer shorts and T shirt and bare feet! I caught 1, and a lady passing in a car stopped short and ran to grab the other one, then chuckled at my boxers as she returned the dog to me! I was embarrassed!

Im looking into a wireless fence since we have so much wooded land, too much to fence in with a regular fence---and since Mals are notorious for being escape artists and not being able to be off leash!

Any advice?
Rayven- I am not soo inclined to take your advice, as you sound like a child posting on here, and some of your other answers and questiions are suspect! We love the breed, know it well, and have acres for them to play on! They have harnesses and sleds and they pull logs during the winter! We work our Mals, but we no longer want to live constantly holding a leash! I also dont want to install an above ground fence because it's well above our budget! (Have you any idea the cost to even fence in 1 acre of our 6 acre property? Thousands of dollars! )
Les- you must be a surburbanite- just by the way you spoke! I have no neighbors, there is no one walking by my driveway (which is 300meters long I might add). We live in the woods, literally- I go out in boxers or naked all the time when letting the dogs out to pee in the morning- it's not like Im gonna be seen.
1/8th of an Acre is the size of my pond on the property, not enough space for what we want for our dogs

Gearbox/transmission/engine sound in touring cars?

Having just watched the WTCC (or demolition derby as many of the drivers seem to think it is) I always wondered what exactly the noise is when you get in car shots.
Something really screams. Is it the gearbox or drive or possibly even the engine? If you had that sort of noise in a road car you would stop immediately and call the AA.
I'm assuming it's the transmission, but why is it so loud? Sounds lke all the bearings have gone.

I am looking in to purchasing a Hybrid SUV. From what I have read, you don't save much more on gas. I was wondering what the benefits of a hybrid are as well as the downfalls. Also, what are some good Hybrids? I am looking for something that is safe, 3rd road seating, and something that I am not just paying for the name.

For me it's maghrib time. I don't know why...

When the time of maghrib comes I just feel so different all of a sudden.
I live in the country side, and I see these rays of purple and orange in the sky, a light glow on the street and I wish it can last forever...

It is just so quite on the streets and when I am feeling very sad I go for a slow walk I put on some classical music and I go by roads, the trees, the cows and horses, no one disturbing me. In summer I have the light warm breeze, in autumn and winter the crusty frozen grass and my foggy breath. If it rains, I stay at home and stare at the sky through my bedroom window.

It is the only time of day that I sincerely just say and think; Subhan'Allah.

I love sunset so much.

So, i was driving down the road, and my car starts staling a little, so i get in the turn lane, and in the middle of the intersection my car stopped, my stearling wheel locked, and my car wouldn't accelerate. when i turned my car offf, it won't turn back on. my gas light was on, but i don't know if my steering wheel should lock up if i'm out of gas. please tell me what's wrong with my car :( and how i should fix it.

But b4 i play more i would like to know if i get a PS3 down the road, will i be able to recover my gamesaves accounts, etc from that ps3 to the new one i buy. I know you can do that on Xbox360 but dont know for a PS3

I need two new tires and a front end alignment for my 08 nissan versa. Firestone quoted me $261.23 for the labor, road hazard protection, and two primewell ps830 tires. Pep boys quoted me $237.08 for the labor, road hazard protection, and two futura touring hr tires. both have a 40k mile prorated warranty. for some reason im gravitating more towards firestone than pep boys. the guy at the counter was just all around more professional than the pep boys guy was. is it worth the $24.15 more to go to firestone or should i stay on the cheap with pep boys?

He treats her two daughters like his own children They marry and have two children of their own, although they lose a child in infancy and suffer several miscarriages. A plague forces them to briefly abandon the village and roam the roads starving until they return to the nearly deserted town and begin to rebuild, running the inn with Adah's husband as sheriff and finally making it a peaceful place.

throne. Her two older sisters have been married off to foreign princes. So Adelaide, the youngest child, never properly trained in politics or monarchy, becomes queen of England at the age of 18. She has an arranged marriage with the Prince of Portugal, who is awkward but well-intentioned. They have four children, who are raised in the Victorian doctrine that Adelaide was forced to keep for the sake of her country, although she despises it. After a long, mainly successful reign full of political turmoil and crises that she manages to resolve, the widowed Adelaide abdicates at the age of 37 in favor of her first son and marries her long-time lover, the Duke of Somerset. They have a set of twins and the new Duchess writes to her elder children of her simple happiness. The people of England are happy for their former queen and she is left in solitude with her husband and babies.

In Dallas county Texas in 2009 we had 11,071 babies of illegal Mexicans born in Parkland hospital and 63,000 in Texas. As a retiree I am struggling to pay my hospital tax, school tax,road tax, property tax etc. Illegal Mexicans do not have to worry about these everyday problems of citizens.

I usually don't worry about those things. My team's usually got the right moves and speed to deal with them. I hate the Golbats for that cursed Confuse Ray attack, and I hate the Hariyamas just as much for Whirlwind, since they have the most EXP that sometimes I really need. If I switch out to the Pokemon that needs that EXP, I pray they don't use Whirlwind,

I drove from Atlanta to Birmingham today and I-20 was 55 mph for 20 miles. Why is that, there was no road construction? It was mostly through a national forest with very little development. I think the state likes to create these zones so they can double their revenue from writing more citations. This was the only place in AL that I saw a State Patrol car hiding in the bushes.
If I had driven 55, I would have been run over by everyone else. Yes I know it was partly through a National forest but wildlife is everywhere. I see more dead deer on the roadside close to heavily populated areas than I do here.

i get my license in a few months. when i turned 15 my parents got me a slightly used 2009 GMC 4x4. unfortunately, it's been giving me recurring issues that the dealer can't find. in the morning, either the battery is dead or 2 or 3 cylinders cut out. i live out in the country and used to take the bus, but the driver was fired and the route was canceled. where i live the roads never get plowed so i really do need a truck. my parents bought the truck so i would be safe on the freeway, and right now i am scared to drive it because it's broken down before, and there was no hard shoulder. my mom is worried about the truck's reliability, and when i start driving i would leave the house after my parents go to work, so if the truck doesn't work, I'm screwed. only trouble is the resale value on the GMC is horrible, and to get a new truck they would have to spend over $6000. my dad is very conscious with money and cars, and thinks that the problems with the GMC will magically disappear. he seems to blow it off and figures it isn't his problem, it's mine. his excuse time and time again is "we'll get it fixed". i understand where my dad is coming from, but i really need a reliable vehicle. what are some things i could say to convince him to get a different truck?

thank you all for your answers so far, to be honest with you the guy had what started as a minor accident that now is within days of killing him after a 36" chainsaw chain snap while running the saw wide open and lacerated/punctured his shoulder blade,he made no big deal of it till it was to late as he didnt realize it was such a big wound and the infection caused by it has now spread thruout his entire body,he was scheduled for emergency surgery earlier this afternoon but when he read the letters he recieved,not kidding here but he never went and was bombarded by docs calling and warning him as they did last week to immediately have surgery -as of 6pm 9/4 he was given less then 72hrs to live so now he s nowhere to be found ,i have his laptop,he left his cell phone and instructions written on paper & his last will and testament,this is just fckn wrong ,just not right & nobody can even call his ex & tell her if even they knew where to find her i mean wtf! thanks to all & god bless

In another episode, Charlie leaves Alan somewhere, so Alan has to take the bus home, and he complains that he had to walk 2 miles along PCH, with no sidewalk.

However, I have noticed that the 534 bus runs the entire section of PCH from Santa Monica to Transcas Canyon Road (where the gas station and Howes market are, just west of Zuma Beach). The city of Malibu does not seem to go very much west of there before you reach an unincorporated area which is not part of the city.

Is there anywhere the Harper house could be that (1) is in "the city of Malibu", (2) is on PCH, and (3) is at least 2 miles from the nearest bus stop?

Or is this an error by the writers of the show?

I barely exercise unless I am running down my road to catch my bus. I want to gain more weight because I want bigger boobs (right now im 34B) and a bigger ass. Guys say I have a small boobs and no butt and I'm so skinny (when it's only bc im tall), so that's why I want to gain more weight. I also, just want to be sexier and get all the attention. So yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. I need to gain some weight, so can someone please help me. (:

Am I Doing Something Wrong?

I take my Morgan/Arab Mare (I just got her) for walks down the gravel roads near my home to get her used to where we will be riding. While I walk her she seems to walk behind me sometimes (not always right at my side) She is not lazy by any means. Is this normal for her to walk behind me? Or am I doing something wrong?
I know it's dangerous for her to walk behind me.... I feel like she is going to step on my heels and with the bolting also!!! thanks for the advice, but is she trying to tell me something or is this just a habit she has?
*also she doesn't always walk behind me, sometimes she will fall behind for a few seconds though* And then I will pull her back up next to me... I just want to know what is causing her to do this*
